Brian Waboose
Brian is a self-taught painter, who has achieved great success since he began his craft in 1977. His works have been shown at several galleries throughout the Toronto area and elsewhere. Galleries such as: Tom Beckett Gallery of Hamilton; Crystal Art Gallery in Toronto, the Woodland Cultural Center in Brantford, Ontario, and Royal Ontario Museum (ROM). He has had displays of his works at the Harbour Castle Hotel (Toronto), the Chateau Laurier Hotel (Ottawa), Native Canadian Centre, Anishnabe Health, the Department of Indian and Northern Affairs, and at Queen’s Park in Toronto. Many collectors in Germany, Spain, Mexico, the U.S.A., as well as throughout Canada have acquired Brian’s artwork. Brian designs book covers, crests, logos and has done large murals. Two large murals can be found in Toronto at Parliament & Dundas Street and Weston Road and Roger Street.
Today Brian is a member of the Whitefish River First Nation commonly known as Birch Island, Ontario. This is where Brian paints and makes his home with his family.
